For those who have been following my blog regularly may have noticed a couple of things, that I have been on a bit of a blogging holiday and also that my site looks a little different than before. Both of these being a direct result of some (really good) news we received a little while back. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our first little bub due in September 🙂
So as the good news started to sink in so did the nausea and the bone numbing tiredness, which caught me completely by surprise. I could not believe that something the size of a grape could sap every last little bit of energy out of full-grown adult woman. But alas, the combination of the nausea and tiredness along with my new superhuman sense of smell (which made everything worse), meant my regular kitchen sanctuary became a place of torture. The only thing I could stomach in those first few weeks was water and dry crackers, and even the smell of baking and chocolates made me want to reach for the bucket (what has this little alien growing inside done with me!?!?). As the weeks went by and my appetite slowly started coming back, all I wanted to eat was olives, hummus and tomatoes. And from a blogging perspective there wasn’t much I could concoct with that to post about. (Although, I feel obligated to mention that I discovered whole olives has infinitely more flavour than their pitted counterparts. Also, green olives in my opinion do not get nearly enough attention – they are d.e.l.i.c.i.o.u.s).
So with the renewed energy that has come with my second trimester, I decided it was not only time to get back into the kitchen to do what I love but also felt the need for a bit of an aesthetic overhaul. Hopefully to make things a bit easier to navigate, and also because I felt like a bit of a change. So bear with me as things are slowly coming together. I have also (finally) set up a Facebook page for my site, so feel free to like my page to get more regular updates about the things that go on in my kitchen that doesn’t always make it all the way to the blog 🙂
Check back in tomorrow for a mouth-watering recipe for sticky date pudding as we welcome Autumn (who has snuck up on us way too quickly).
…be fearless, and have fun!
